Question
How do I configure leave check rules for leave requests and leave time entries?
Answer
Background
In system policies, there are Leave Check Rules that, when enabled, that will validate leave requests and leave time entries. Best practice is to use these checks to set minimum and maximum leave hours values and to enforce a probationary period (e.g., 90 days) for new employees where they cannot request or take leave.
Leave Checks
Navigate to System>Policies>Policy Name>Edit>Time Entry Rules>Leave Checks:
- Scroll down to Leave Checks and click the the show/hide button if the Leave Check rule settings are not displayed.
- Minimum/Maximum Hours Check. Enable Leave Checks by pay code to enforce a minimum and/or maximum number of hours for any leave requests by pay code. This setting will also be enforced when users save or submit their timesheets.
- Probationary Period. You can also enable the "Can't be taken until employed for x days" rule. This will enforce that leave requests and leave time entries cannot be saved if their dates fall within the first x days of employment. This feature requires setting an employee's "First Day" or start/hire date in their profile. A common setting for a probationary period is the first 90 days of employment.
